Cree Jobs Partnership Job Coach JOB COACHES Summary of Role Under the authority and direction supervision of the CJP Project Coordinator, the Job Coach: provides the support to the CJPP employers, provides support to CJPP trainees, provides reports on these support and liaison activities with CJPP employers and trainees, and carries out key parts of the CJPP communication strategy with CJPP employers and trainees and with Cree Communities. Responsibilities Provides the support to and liaison with project employers including: •Assists in the development of contracts with project employers; •Coordinates the design and delivery of training for employers’ trainers; •Coordinates the intercultural training to project employers, as required; •Provides ongoing liaison with project employers including employer’s supervisors and trainers, and where required, provides liaison between trainees and employers. Coordinates and provides the support to and liaison with project trainees including: •carries out the recruitment, selection, and orientation of project trainees, in collaboration with project employers; •coordinates the assessment of project trainees technical and essential skill levels, using appropriate external experts; •develops individual development plans for project trainees, in collaboration with employers; •coordinates the provision of essential skill and French language training, as required, to trainees; •Provides ongoing support to project trainees in order to maximize their success in the training and their retention in their jobs. Implements pertinent elements of the CJPP communications strategy including: •Carries out key parts of the CJPP communications strategy targeted for project employers, trainees, and Cree Communities. Provides regular reports on his/her activities to the Project Coordinator including: •Production of monitoring reports on the job coaches work including support to project employers and trainees; •Monthly reports on communication activities. Qualifications •A relevant vocational training diploma or equivalent experience •At least five (5) years of relevant experience in the construction, catering or facility management industry, including relevant management/project management experience; •Demonstrated positive experience working as an autonomous, self reliant, self-starting worker; •An appropriate knowledge of informatics (Excel, Word); •Demonstrated positive experience as an effective member of a work team; •Good interpersonal, communication and motivation skills; •Ability to communicate effectively, in both the written and verbal form; •Knowledge of the First Nations employment and training field; •Good ability to speak, write, and comprehend English and French; •Certificate in a construction trade or other pertinent trade is an asset; •Knowledge of the Cree language is an asset; •Ability to travel regularly in the Cree Territory for short periods.
